Miglė Križinauskaitė-Bernotienė (b. 1987) is an audiovisual artist and a creator of experimental documentary films, who is currently based in Utena (Lithuania). In 2020, she graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with an MA in Film Directing and now she is studying for the practice-based PhD and her field of interests is in experimental expanded travelogue filmmaking.

 

Artist is specifically interested in a field of the experimental autoethnography, travelogue genre and artistic research through sensorial: psychogeography through film or vice versa. Her work usually spans multiple disciplines including essayistic sonic reflections, still photography, collage, found footage, experimental and documentary moving images works in both: analogue and digital. Newly her practices find form in expanded cinema and analogue film-performances. Artist chooses to present abstract ideas through a meta-narrative, self-reflexivity and personal way of storytelling. Her work often explores the subject of the erosion of memory and time and intertwines the reality around us with abstract and with the forms of experimental art.
